The Android users are in for a treat as the ChatGPT app is now live on the Google Play Store. This follows a few months after its free iOS app debuted, bringing the chatbot to iPhones and iPads.
The news came via a tweet from the company, stating that the Android app is initially available in the US, India, Bangladesh, and Brazil. The release in other countries will follow suit, which is reminiscent of the rollout pattern for the iOS version.

Interestingly, this Android launch comes on the heels of a dip in web traffic and app installations in June, as highlighted in our discussion last week, based on Sensor Tower and Similarweb data.
ChatGPT has been riding high on the wave of success until the introduction of Threads, making it uncertain if the buzz around it will persist or settle down to a more steady state.
Interestingly, the Bing AI chatbot, which has been available on Android for quite a while, is also powered by OpenAI’s GPT-4 model. In contrast, Google’s Bard AI currently depends solely on a web interface, without a dedicated app.
In the ongoing trend of tech companies launching AI-enabled tools for mobile apps, Apple remains a conspicuous exception. The tech giant hasn’t yet rolled out a chatbot of its own. However, according to a recent Bloomberg report, Apple is likely to join the bandwagon soon as it’s allegedly testing a chatbot internally.
