Within seven hours of today’s debut, 10 million people signed up for Threads, a new platform created by Meta. Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Facebook’s parent company, said on his official Threads account on Thursday, “10 million sign ups in seven hours.”
The microblogging service Threads is seen to be Elon Musk‘s largest rival to date for Twitter, which Musk purchased last year and has undergone numerous adjustments. Users of the new site can publish up to 500 characters, and it has several features that are comparable to those of Twitter.
Zuckerberg responded to a question on Threads about whether the platform will become “bigger than Twitter” by saying, “I think there should be a public conversations app with 1 billion+ people on it. It’ll take some time.”
Twitter has had the chance to achieve this, but it hasn’t succeeded. Hopefully, he said, we will.
Zuckerberg had previously created Threads as a welcoming and accessible public forum for conversation.
It should be mentioned that when an Instagram user signs up for Threads, a badge is automatically added to their profile; however, they have the option to hide it. Additionally, they have the opportunity to select various privacy settings for every program.
At a moment when Twitter is unquestionably on the defense, Meta is opening fire.
Twitter was purchased by Musk for $44 billion in October of last year, but its worth has subsequently fallen as a result of significant personnel reductions and content moderation disputes that have alienated both users and advertisers. Its most recent action was restricting how many tweets users may read per day.
