How to calculate NBA odds

NBA odds are a measurement of the likelihood that a particular team will win a game. These odds typically have decimal values, meaning you can calculate them to the tenth decimal place. NBA odds vary based on whether the match is taking place at home or on the road and whether the team won its last game. In this article, we’ll learn how to calculate NBA odds with step-by-step instructions and some examples.

NBA betting statistics and explanation:

The NBA regular season is a grind for players and coaches, as well as bettors and oddsmakers. There are 30 teams in the league, with an 82-game season plus two months of post-season play. Predicting an outcome in any major market can be difficult – but it’s especially hard to predict how a game will end when there are so many moving pieces involved.

You may find 4 types of NBA advanced stats. Those are:

  • Offensive stats
  • Defensive stats
  • Player stats
  • Team stats

With the proper application, each stat will provide you with enough information about a player’s performance, which can range from good to bad matchups for your team or how to adjust when someone is missing.

Advanced team stats will show you the bigger picture than just looking at the wins and losses to determine if a team is genuinely good or not.

Points Per Possession is an excellent way of determining how efficient your team’s offense has been on average. This statistic takes into account points, as well as possessions it took them to get those points- giving you a more accurate measurement of their offensive prowess.

Rebound rate, also known as rebound percentage, is another good statistic to follow. Rebound rate calculates the percentage of available rebounds for a team and gives you a broader picture of how many second chances those players allowed per game.

What is a parlay bet?

A parlay bet is a type of wager that involves picking two or more games. The individual bets within the parlay are linked so that the payouts are multiplied together. This means, for example, if you put $100 on a two-game parlay and one game doesn’t happen, then your payout is $200. If both games don’t happen, then you lose your bet. When you add more games to your parlay, the payouts for each game within it decrease.

To place a parlay bet is actually very simple as long as you are familiar with betting on accumulators. The process doesn’t differ so much before you make your bet. Before placing the wager, consider what type of bets to look for and how many points does it have in order for them to be valid. There are different types of bets to make- a long shot with the possibility of a huge payout or a more likely one with a smaller payout. When you have decided this, look for odds and selections that offer good value.

How do parlay bets multiply?

To calculate the parlay payouts, you start by multiplying all of the decimal odds together. Then, take that number and multiply it by your wager which will give you the total amount. Depending on how many legs you have, calculating the odds can be difficult and we recommend using a free tool to crunch the number for you. You can exchange this back for cash or keep playing with a different bet size or type of bet (different sport). When you are betting parlays, always be sure to check the payouts as they will vary with different sites. For example, if you do a two-teamer and get 2.6/1 in payout then for 3-teamer using Standard -110 lines your payout should be 6/1 or higher (true odds). If there is an Off Standard Line like (-120) that isn’t included it would offer worse than fixed odds so I don’t recommend including them in your parlay for a better chance at winning!

4-leg NBA parlay betting:

A four-leg parlay is a type of wager that combines four different individual bets. When we place this kind of bet, it’s always best to play for the locks. For example, if you place -110 odds on all 4 bets in one single betting session and would like to pay out 10-1 (10 times your initial investment), then that would be a great return! You get the opportunity to turn a hundred dollars into one thousand at these odds. With -110 odds, you’re either going to win or lose but it’s worth putting your luck on the line.

The advantages of parlay bets:

Parlay betting is an old-school and exotic wager, which people consider a sucker’s bet these days. When looking at it (a parlay), you might be quick to surmise that just because of the risk factor. However, in reality, stress can’t survive without risk, and thinking this way invites nothing but instability into your life. So why so many ‘no-risk’ bets out there?

Benefits of parlay betting like:

  • You can win a lot of money from just minimal stakes.
  • You always do not have to be consistent in making money
  • Choosing multiple selections means you rely on luck more.
  • It’s easy to hedge and easy to add on.

How much is too much? The disadvantages of parlay bets

Parlay bets are popular because everyone dreams of turning a little bit of cash into a big payday, and the NBA is one of the most profitable sports to bet on. This type of betting is always risky. A parlay bet can be defined quite simply, it is just one large bet made up of many smaller ones. Laying parlays is linking bets together so they count as one bigger and more expensive wager than the sum total of its parts would be if you were betting them separately.

Here are some of the disadvantages:

The disadvantage of a parlay bet is that if any of the bets in the parlay loses, the entire parlay is lost.

Your return of successful bets will most likely not be that high.

A wagering system with a very low potential to go on a long winning streak without any wins.

It is very difficult to implement solid betting strategies when using this type of wager, as it has no risk against the house’s edge and you may find yourself going for an extremely long time without ever seeing success.
