First Two Britain’s Got Talent 2024 Finalists Revealed After Chaotic Semi-Final

Britain’s Got Talent 2024 Finalists Revealed

The first semi-final of Britain’s Got Talent 2024 aired last night, unveiling the first two finalists who will compete for the £250,000 prize and a coveted spot at the Royal Variety Performance.

The show featured a mix of stunning performances and surprising moments, setting the stage for an exciting week of competition.

Judges Return and Performers Take the Stage

Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and Bruno Tonioli returned to their judging duties as eight acts took to the stage, each vying for a place in the final.

The performers included Sven Smith, The Trickstars, Trey Braine, Ssaulabi Performance Troupe, Taryn Charles, Bikoon, Stardust, and Innocent Masuku.

The First Finalists

Innocent Masuku, an opera singing powerhouse, received the most votes from the public, securing his place in the final after a breathtaking closing performance.

The second finalist spot was decided by the judges, who chose Ssaulabi Performance Troupe, a martial arts group, over The Trickstars in a unanimous vote.

Highlights of the Night

Innocent Masuku’s Stunning Performance: Innocent wowed the audience and judges with his powerful opera performance, leading to the highest public vote of the night. Alesha Dixon described him as “the one to beat,” and Bruno Tonioli praised his act as “flawless.”

Simon Cowell commended his talent and stage presence, highlighting his deserving spot in the final.

Ssaulabi Performance Troupe’s Cinematic Display: The South Korean taekwondo group, who were Ant and Dec’s Golden Buzzer act, delivered a performance described by Simon as “a cinematic blockbuster.” Their intense training and dedication paid off, earning them a spot in the final through the judges’ votes.

Other Performances

  • The Trickstars: Despite a charming Charlie And The Chocolate Factory-themed dog act, The Trickstars fell short in the judges’ vote, missing out on a final spot.
  • Taryn Charles: Bruno’s Golden Buzzer act performed a rendition of “Lose Control” by Teddy Swims, receiving praise for the song choice and execution.
  • Duo Stardust: Simon’s Golden Buzzer act, a rollerskating couple from Ukraine, faced criticism for letting the production overshadow their talent.
  • Trey Braine: The young dancer’s performance had mixed reviews, with Simon noting his star potential.
  • Bikoon: The comedian’s act faced criticism as his magic bag trick failed multiple times, leading to red buzzers from Alesha, Bruno, and Amanda.
  • Sven Smith: The air guitarist’s performance did not impress the judges, with Alesha and Amanda questioning his place in the semi-final.

Reactions and Reflections

Innocent Masuku expressed his excitement and readiness for the final, telling presenters Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly, “This is my year, everything is just happening and I’m so happy and I’m glad that this is the year, and I’m ready! I am ready for Sunday, I hope you are ready as well!”

The night’s performances reflected the diversity and talent present in this year’s competition, with acts ranging from opera singing and dog training to martial arts and comedy. If you want you can also read- Cannes Film Festival 2024 Winners.
