Will there Be a Season 4 of Ted Lasso? What We Know So Far

ted lasso season 4

Ted Lasso, the beloved Apple TV+ sports comedy, has left fans wondering about the possibility of a season 4.

The third season of Ted Lasso marked the end of Ted’s story arc, leaving fans wondering what’s next for the rest of the cast.

However, despite several cast members, including Jason Sudeikis, suggesting that the series is ending, there are still hints and rumors that suggest a potential continuation of the story.

Here is what we know so far:

  • There is no official announcement for Ted Lasso season 4. But there are strong possibilities for a spinoff or the next season.
  • The head of Warner Bros. TV suggests there is still a possible comeback for season 4.
  • Key members, including the Jason Sudeikis, hint at a possible season 4.
  • There is a possibility of Jason Sudeikis’s comeback. Moreover, there could be a spinoff focused on Richmond’s women’s team.

Will there be a season 4 of Ted Lasso?

There is no official confirmation for Ted Lasso season 4 yet.  But, according to Warner Bros’ Channing Dungey, yes, there are chances that season 4 is on its way!

Ted Lasso was always intended to be a three-season story. Jason Sudeikis said, “This is the end of this story that we wanted to tell.”

In fact, the show’s Twitter account also confirmed that it was the last season by tweeting,

“A few years ago, I hopped on a plane with Coach Beard headin’ to a little town in London. Tonight, we play our final match. It’s like what I say about the films of David Lynch. I can’t tell you what’s happenin’, but I sure as heck don’t want it to end.”

Now, that doesn’t mean the door is slammed shut forever. Sudeikis also left a glimmer of hope, saying, “There’s always a cameo, right?”

Interestingly, Channing Dungey, the chairwoman of Warner Bros.TV, spilled the beans about Ted Lasso season 4.

While she didn’t drop a definitive bomb, she did say something encouraging.

In her own words, “I wouldn’t put the period on the end of that sentence just yet.” But the vibe is positive. There’s still a boatload of love for Ted Lasso, and Apple is apparently still super excited about it.

She even said, “Should the opportunity arise, we’d be excited to jump back into making more.”

And then there is an interesting tweet from Apple TV showing Beard, Roy Kent, and Nate standing in a locker room, saying, “Smells like potential.”

Intriguing, Right?

Fans are speculating, and even the actors seem to be dropping hints. So, is it happening? Let’s spill the tea.

Ted Lasso Season 4 Updates

There are hints of potential spinoffs and a season 4 plot idea from the stars. Nick Mohammed, who portrayed Nate Shelley, posted a cryptic tweet that sparked speculation about a potential season 4.

Well, could this be a sneaky Season 4 confirmation?

In USA TODAY’s interview with Jason Sudeikis, he diplomatically answered, “I don’t know, could there be? – Yeah, sure. But that’s not the question I was necessarily answering”.

This literally hinted at the possibility of more Ted Lasso goodness!

Moreover, On The Hollywood Reporter’s TV’s Top 5 podcast, West Coast TV Editor Lesley Goldberg dropped a little tidbit that got our ears perked up. According to her sources, Jason Sudeikis “desperately misses” playing the character. She said,

“ So obviously, the finale set up a couple of different possible spinoffs. They’ve been mum about what’s going on there. I’ve, you know, heard through sources that Jason Sudeikis desperately misses that character. So, who knows if they’re going to find a way to bring him back with another fourth season of Ted Lasso or if they’re going to do another spinoff.”

So, yes, there is a whiff of possibility for both a Season 4 or a spin-off.

Spin-offs? What would happen in Ted Lasso Season 4?

Well, these hints point out many spinoffs. The final scene of Ted coaching Henry’s team in Kansas can be the baseline for season 4. Now, that could be a potential starting point for Season 4, but there’s a catch. It runs the risk of overshadowing Ted’s character’s conclusion, you know?

But there is room for Ted to make a return without necessarily being the main cast member.

Moreover, we can expect a story of AFC Richmond, sadly without Sudeikis in the main role. But yes, there are whispers that he could come back in guest roles.

Other than this, the finale also dropped a few hints that a Ted Lasso Season 4 storyline could focus on Roy, Nate, and Beard leading Richmond to European glory. I mean, that sounds like an exciting twist, doesn’t it?

Another spinoff idea that’s been thrown around is a series focused on a women’s soccer team, with Keeley and Rebecca in the lead. Who wouldn’t want to see more of their dynamic and the impact they could have in football?

There is even talk of a prequel centered on Roy Kent. Fans are excited to see his backstory and how he became the legend we know and love. Discover the best Apple TV shows to spend your holidays at home.

Ted Lasso Season 3: Quick Recap

In the season finale, Ted Lasso decides to quit and return home to Kansas. Throughout the season, we see Ted and Rebeca’s relationship evolve into a deep friendship. meanwhile, Roy and Keeley’s relationship is tested when Jamie returns to the team.

The season also shines a light on the mental health of the characters, with Ted seeking therapy and Nate struggling with his newfound power.

Ted Lasso Season 4 Release Date?

It is a bit of a bummer that we don’t have an official date to mark yet. However, if the next season is as good as the first three, it will undoubtedly be worth the wait.

However, taking note of previous seasons’ release dates, season 1 was released in 2020’s summer, and then season 2  came up next year in 2021.

Ted Lasso season 3 took 2 years and arrived in March 2023. So, yeah, there was a huge gap between seasons 2 and 3.

Now considering the ending of season 3, we could assume that it could take longer than a quick turn-around. Seeing the pattern, there is a chance that the fourth season will come by early to mid-2026.

So, for now, all we can do is patiently wait and hope for season 4.

Ted Lasso Season 4 Cast: Who Could Return?

After the Ted Lasso season 3 ending, it is speculated that Jason Sudeikis may or may not return for season 4 as his character lives happily with his son in Kansas City.

However, the ensemble cast of AFC Richmond could still return in season 4. Well, the cast members that can definitely return include:

Ted Lasso Season 4 Production Status

Though there are many positive hints from the cast members, season 4 does not seem to be in production yet.

In fact, many TV shows and movies get announced in the beginning. So, maybe there are chances that we will have to wait long.

As said earlier, there was a one or two-year gap between the previous seasons. So, this might be the case that season 4 is still in the process, and production has yet to start.
