Bangladesh’s former cricket captain Tamim Iqbal was rushed to the hospital on Monday morning after he suffered a massive heart attack. The incident happened during a Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League match between Mohammedan Sporting Club and Shinepukur Cricket Club, held at the BKSP ground in Savar, just outside Dhaka.
Chest Pain During the Game
Tamim began feeling chest discomfort shortly after the toss, during the first innings of the match. Initially, the symptoms appeared mild, but his condition soon worsened.
Emergency Medical Response
At first, Tamim was taken to a local hospital near the ground, where doctors suspected mild heart issues. Plans were made to airlift him to Dhaka for advanced treatment, and a helicopter was arranged.
However, while being taken to the helipad, Tamim experienced severe chest pain. Due to the seriousness of his condition, he was rushed back and admitted to Fazilatunnesa Hospital in Savar.
Doctors Confirm Heart Attack
Dr. Debashish Chowdhury, the chief physician of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), confirmed the seriousness of the situation. He stated that medical tests revealed it was a massive heart attack.
“It is a difficult time for all of us. He is currently under observation, and the medical team is doing everything possible for his recovery,” said Dr. Chowdhury.
Family Rushing to Be With Him
Tamim Iqbal’s family members are on their way to Savar to be by his side. The cricket community and fans across the country are deeply concerned about his health and are praying for his quick recovery.
