How to Choose the Best Online Sports Book if You are in Florida?

The legality of Sports betting in the state of Florida is a highly debated subject. We all know how Floridians have a massive sports scene, specializing in all kinds of professional sports leagues that are considered popular across the US.

This also means they have a massive followership towards the sports scene, and we all know that a large majority of sports fans like to gamble on their favourite sport. Some say it’s in their blood to wager. But isn’t gambling illegal in Florida? Or is it allowed? If you are uncertain about this, look no further. Here you’ll find all you need to know about sports betting in Florida.

Is it now legal in Florida to place bets on sporting events through the internet?

Florida does not presently have a digital bookmaker that is authorized by the state. Last year, a sports betting lounge which was opened by Hard Rock temporarily provided wagering services in Florida which was legal, although it was hit particularly hard and soon ended by controversy which was caused by national debate.

Hard Rock International, the company behind the Hard Rock brand, received exclusive rights to operate online sports betting in Florida after Governor Ron DeSantis signed an agreement with the Seminole Tribe, the owners of the Hard Rock brand. A five-year arrangement was struck when the tribe promised to provide at least $2.5 billion in income to the state’s coffers.

Judge Dabney Friedrich found that the agreement violated both state and federal law, deeming it unconstitutional under the Indian Gaming Regulation Act. Despite the ruling, the Seminole Tribe continued to operate the sportsbook in Florida until an appeal was failed, at which point it was shut down. A referendum on whether sports betting should be allowed has been proposed by several MPs, but they were unable to get the necessary support.

Currently, the only way to bet on sports in Florida is to utilize an offshore sportsbook. Offshore sportsbooks are basically legal, regulated bookmakers that operate from other countries. They might not be made to cater specifically for people from Florida, but this does not mean that the Sunshine state does not have access to them.

In fact, right now, offshore bookies are the best possible alternative for those wager-happy Floridians to dip their toes into the sportsbook market and enjoy a little sports bet here and there. So if you want to dip your toes into the world of sports betting, all you need to do is find the best possible offshore sportsbook, and that will all be explained below.

Finding the best offshore sportsbook

Finding the best possible offshore sportsbook is not the easiest of tasks, due to the massively growing global betting industry and the insane level of competition that is being created between thousands of betting companies across the globe. Sometimes it requires a little bit of research in order to find trusted informational sources that teach you all about comparing and selecting overseas sports betting providers for FL punters, with all the information necessary to jump right into the experience without having to worry about anything.

Check Licensing

The first and most important factor to check when searching for a bookmaker is to see whether or not it is properly licensed by a trusted governing body. There are many associations that do this to perfection, but it’s good to know the most trusted ones. Generally, the best online sportsbooks have multiple licenses to cater for as many markets as possible. The most promising licenses a gambling site can get are the ones from the UK Gambling Commission, the Malta Gaming Authority, the Curacao gaming license, and the one from Gibraltar.

Read Reviews

Most online sportsbooks are reviewed by professional websites that have field experts who analyse every aspect of the bookmaker and give players an honest view on what they think about their service. If you don’t feel like reading reviews, you might even come across a few podcasts here and there. Sometimes you’ll find a review that can make or break a sportsbook’s popularity, either making them look like the best sportsbook ever or complaining so much about them that they become infamous for it. Either way, you can’t go wrong with reading other players’ experiences to help you make a decision on whether or not to use a certain sportsbook.

Payment Options

Another important factor to keep in mind is the methods of payment that a certain bookmaker accepts. Everyone has their own preferred payment methods – some take more time to process, others have lower fees. This means its crucial to check if a bookmaker allows you to use your preferred method of payment before you register, otherwise, your depositing and withdrawing experience might just be a nightmare.
