After Dimple and Rishi’s traumatic breakup, the sole Indian Netflix original schedule in October is Mismatched season 2, which premieres on October 14. Akarsh Khurana of TVF Tripling fame returns to direct the coming-of-age series, which addresses identity issues, bullying, mental health, and other challenges plaguing the brains of adolescents. Relationships, whether romantic or platonic, are the key focus, drawing influence from Sandhya Menon’s 2017 novel “When Dimple Met Rishi.” Obviously, San Francisco was replaced by the busy city of Jaipur in the first season, but the essential concepts remained the same.

“Mismatched season 2 is a heartfelt universe that we crafted during a difficult time. This cast is a family, and the reception to the first season overwhelmed us all. “Since then, the only thing on our minds has been returning with a season that is stronger, more emotional, and more authentic,” said director Khurana in a prepared statement.

Compared to worldwide young adult shows such as HBO’s Euphoria, the plot beats here appear a touch too infantile, despite a degree of self-awareness. Mismatched season 2 offers a rush of emotions as the summer coding program at Aravali Institute comes to a conclusion, as the students cope with jealousy, broken friendships and pledges, and explore new romantic interests.

Mismatched season 2 promises to address LGBTQ+ issues, a continuation of Namrata’s (Devyani Shorey) arc, in which she was “shamed” for having romantic feelings for women. Meanwhile, our “non-dates,” portrayed by Prajakta Koli and Rohit Saraf, are scheming vengeance to see who will cry first. With the addition of an augmented reality dance-off, this season promises to be something bizarre.

Koli, popularly known by her online alias “MostlySane,” returns as Dimple Ahuja, the brilliant coder and one-half of our bickering duo. Still distraught over the leaked source code of her app AntiSosh and having severed relations with Rishi, she finds solace in a new partner while attempting to relaunch her project. As the final weeks of college get increasingly stressful, she begins to cram her days while being forced to watch her “ex-lover” pursue a new romantic interest.

The “ex” in issue is Rishi Singh Shekhawat (Saraf), who has not only been blamed for leaking Dimple’s code but is also distraught about the revelation of his closest friend’s gay orientation. Clearly, there is a misunderstanding between them, which has caused the former to lose faith in love and marriage.

“As an actor, I disagree with a great deal of what my character did in the first season if I were to look back at it. “Had I been given the same screenplay at this time, I would have interpreted it and played it differently,” Saraf revealed in an interview. “The tale picks up just where the first season left off, which was both challenging and entertaining.”

Vihaan Samat (Bombay Begums) portrays Dimple’s close friend and shoulder to weep on, Harsh Agarwal, who finally becomes her lover…? Having sealed a kiss on a fatal night, the couple embarked on a tumultuous journey, supporting one another through adversity, whether it be future planning, exacting revenge on Rishi, or singing late-night songs in a weird American accent.

Sanskruti, played by Sanjana Sarathy, is a new student at the Aravali Institute and a member of the Mismatched season 2 cast. As a pastime, she is a photographer, and when she begins a relationship with Rishi, she assists him in overcoming all of his preconceived notions about love. Even more, they are partners in the previously described augmented reality dance-off.

Netflix has released nine new songs by exceptionally brilliant artists, including Anoushka Maskey, YugM, Danish Sood, and others. “Dimple” by Sickflip is a frantic, anxious blend of electronic dance music that increases the quotient.
