India Records Highest 90,632 Coronavirus Cases in Single Day
India reported a record of 90,632 coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, reports NDTV.
With this, the total number of infections has exceeded 41-lakh mark in the country.
According to the report, total number of the novel coronavirus cases in India reached 41,13,811 people till Sunday morning.
Additionally, another 1,065 people have died in the country in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number to 70,626.
More than 3.1 million people have recovered from Covid-19 so far and over eight lakh people are receiving treatment. The recovery rate stood at 77.32 per cent, according to Home Ministry data.
Over the past week, an average of about 80,000 patients have been diagnosed with the disease in India every day.
India is the third most affected country in the world for coronavirus infection after United States and Brazil.
Brazil so far reported 41,23,000 cases and has been showing initial signs of easing in the spread of the virus, Reuters reports.
According to Johns Hopkins University (JHU), the death toll from Covid-19 worldwide has risen to 879,307 as of Sunday morning.
According to the JHU, a total of 26,873,146 people have tested positive for Covid-19 so far.
However, World Health Organization (WHO) has said that it does not expect vaccinations against coronavirus until the middle of next year.
