According to reports, Google is apparently thinking about renaming its generative AI-powered chatbot ‘Bard’ to ‘Gemini’ in the coming week. According to reports, the company is getting ready to introduce Bard Advanced, an AI chatbot that will run on Gemini Ultra, their most sophisticated and capable model made for handling difficult tasks.
Android app developer Dylan Roussel hinted at a potential rebranding in a post on X (formerly Twitter). According to another report, it has been suggested that Google plans to change the name of Bard to Gemini.
Google has released a significant changelog for Bard, and let me tell you, it’s quite substantial! The availability in Canada is fantastic! However, I’m having trouble comprehending the limitations of the app. “That’s quite disappointing, coming from someone who resides in Europe,” he expressed, with a touch of sarcasm. “Oh, and just in case you were wondering, http://gemini.google.com is actually a legitimate website.” Upon clicking the link, an unfortunate 404 error is encountered.
Google added a new changelog for Bard, and — oh boy — it’s a big one!
The availability in Canada is awesome! That said I don’t really understand the limitations with the app. That’s disappointing as someone who lives in Europe.

An alleged leaked photo of a changelog from February 7, 2024, offers a glimpse into the forthcoming features and the rebranding.
Based on the changelog image, it appears that there may be plans to introduce an ‘Advanced’ tier that utilizes Gemini Ultra, which is being hailed as Google’s most sophisticated large language model thus far. There is speculation that this model might outperform OpenAI’s GPT-4, which ChatGPT Plus and Microsoft Copilot AI chatbots are currently using.
Bard Advanced will be Available as a Subscription
During the company’s Q4 earnings call last week, CEO Sundar Pichai announced that Bard Advanced will soon be offered to users as a subscription service.
“Now that [Bard] is running on Gemini Pro, it has significantly improved its capabilities in areas like understanding, summarizing, reasoning, coding, and planning.” It is currently available in more than 40 languages and can be accessed in over 230 countries worldwide. Pichai declared that a version with even more advanced features and Gemini Ultra power will be available to subscribers.
According to Google, their impressive large language model (LLM) is able to handle a wide range of tasks, including logical reasoning, coding, following detailed instructions, and promoting creative collaboration. The company suggests that there will be continuous enhancements to Gemini Ultra’s abilities in analyzing various types of content, such as files, data, and documents, in the near future.
Gemini App for Android
One interesting addition mentioned in the changelog is the new Gemini app for Android devices. According to Google, this new app aims to make learning, writing thank-you notes, event planning, and other tasks easier by utilizing Google AI on users’ phones.
Gemini has the capability to seamlessly integrate the app with a range of Google services, including Gmail, Maps, and YouTube. Android users can enjoy a dedicated app for Gemini, while iOS users may need to use the Google app to access its features.
The Microsoft Copilot app is readily accessible on both Android and iOS platforms.
