Vivo X Fold 3 Pro: A Comprehensive Review of the Latest Foldable

Vivo X Fold 3 Pro

In recent years, the foldable smartphone market has seen significant advancements, with numerous brands entering the fray. The biggest challenge for these devices has always been their bulkiness and fragility.

Vivo, however, has aimed to change this with its latest release, the X Fold3 Pro. This foldable phone promises a sleek design, superior functionality, and impressive durability.

Design and Build Quality

The Vivo X Fold3 Pro stands out immediately with its design. At just 11.2mm thick when folded, it is only slightly thicker than a regular smartphone, making it more comfortable to hold and carry.

The phone’s weight is evenly distributed, which means it doesn’t feel overly heavy in the hand despite weighing 236 grams. The Celestial Black variant, in particular, exudes a premium look and feel.

One of the notable design features is the gapless design, ensuring that no particles like coins can slip between the screens. The hinges allow for tent mode, enhancing its versatility.

The frosted glass rear panel, while elegant, lacks a bit of grip, and the Zeiss-branded circular camera module adds some top-heaviness when the device is unfolded.

However, Vivo has equipped the phone with Armor Architecture and Schott Xensation scratch resistance for the outer display, a carbon fiber hinge certified for 500,000 folds, and IPX8 water resistance.

Display and User Experience

The Vivo X Fold3 Pro features a stunning 8.03-inch AMOLED display with a 2k+ resolution and up to 4,500 nits of brightness, making it highly visible even under direct sunlight.

The cover screen measures 6.53 inches and has an AMOLED panel with the same high refresh rate and brightness levels. Both displays support HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, providing an exceptional viewing experience for gaming, streaming, and reading.

The main screen’s crease is barely noticeable, which enhances the user experience significantly. Whether you’re navigating with one hand or typing long emails, the seamless screen offers unparalleled ease.

The flexibility to use the phone in different modes, such as split-screen or Flexi mode, maximizes its multitasking capabilities.

Performance and Software

Under the hood, the Vivo X Fold3 Pro is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, coupled with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage.

This powerhouse combination ensures that the phone handles everything from everyday tasks to high-end gaming with ease. Scrolling, multitasking, and switching between apps are smooth, and the device performs exceptionally well even under heavy usage.

The phone runs on Android 14-based Funtouch OS 14, which offers a user-friendly interface with minimal bloatware. The multitasking capabilities are enhanced by features like floating windows and split-screen mode.

Vivo has also integrated advanced AI tools into the software. For instance, the notes app can summarize content, extract to-do items, and translate text, while the recorder app can generate transcripts of voice recordings in seconds.

Camera

The camera system on the Vivo X Fold3 Pro, developed in collaboration with Zeiss, is one of its standout features. The triple rear camera setup includes a 50MP main lens with OIS, a 50MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 64MP telephoto camera with OIS.

This configuration delivers stunning images with fine details and vibrant colors in various lighting conditions.

Daylight shots are awe-inspiring, with natural tones and minimal saturation. The telephoto sensor, with its 3x optical zoom, 10x hybrid zoom, and 100x digital zoom, allows for detailed captures from a distance.

The wide-angle lens provides excellent coverage, although edge detailing can sometimes be slightly off. Night photography is another strong suit, with clear, well-lit images and minimal noise.

Battery Life and Charging

Despite its slim design, the Vivo X Fold3 Pro houses a substantial 5,700mAh battery, split into two cells to fit within the foldable structure. This battery easily lasts through a full day of extensive use.

The phone also supports 100W fast charging, capable of fully charging the device in around 40-45 minutes. Additionally, it supports wireless charging, adding to its convenience.

Wrap up

The Vivo X Fold3 Pro is a remarkable addition to the foldable smartphone market, combining sleek design, powerful performance, and innovative features.

Its slim profile, robust build, and impressive display make it a compelling choice for those looking for a versatile and high-performing device. While it comes with a premium price tag of Rs. 1,59,999, the features and experience it offers justify the cost.

For anyone considering a foldable phone, the Vivo X Fold3 Pro is definitely worth a look. It sets a new benchmark in the segment and could be the game-changing foldable phone the market has been waiting for.
