5 Types of Facelifts: Which One Should You Get?

A facelift is a standard procedure many people embrace to achieve a youthful look and disguise signs of aging. It was one of the top five cosmetic surgical procedures performed in 2020. Individuals in overall good health and who don’t have underlying medical conditions are generally good candidates for the procedure.

The main reason behind the popularity of this procedure is its promising results. However, it is not a one-size-fits-all treatment, as many different types of facelifts are available today. If you’re considering the procedure, the first thing to figure out is which facelift should you get?

1. Standard/Traditional Facelift

A standard or traditional facelift addresses moderate to advanced aging around the mid-face and neck. The procedure involves an incision made around the ear that runs through the earlobe to the hairline. This facelift targets extra skin and repositions the deeper tissues beneath to smooth creases and eliminate sagging skin under the chin.

Since the standard facelift is extensive, you can expect more drastic results. However, it also has a more extended recovery period than other types of facelifts.

2. Three-Day Facelift

A three-day facelift is suitable for individuals who can easily pinch their facial skin. It can rejuvenate your skin within a short amount of time and reduce deep wrinkles and loose skin around your jawline or neck. It leaves behind minimal proof of treatment due to the innovative techniques that many reputable clinics use today.

Many people choose this option when they’re looking for quick results. A three-day facelift can tighten loosened skin due to loss of gravity, as a natural part of aging.

3. MACS Facelift

A MACS Facelift (Minimal Access Cranial Suspension) uses a shorter incision with limited subcutaneous undermining to tackle facial aging. The MACS facelift is a minimally invasive procedure with low risk and the least chances of complications.

Due to the subtle nature of this facelift, you can combine the procedure with other treatments for enhanced results. Some people combine neck liposuction with a MACS facelift for more noticeable results.

4. Scarless Facelift

An endoscopic facelift is a procedure that uses radiofrequency to lift and tighten skin. This procedure is the least invasive among other types of facelifts. This procedure is known as a scarless facelift because it doesn’t use longer incisions on the face or neck like most facelifts. It involves using only small incisions, which can be made above the hairline and inside the mouth, so they aren’t visible.

This revolutionary procedure allows candidates to notice immediate results and reduces the risk of complications. Many other procedures use radiofrequency in medical devices, which proves its safety.

5. Mini/Micro Facelift

Mini or micro facelifts are less invasive than traditional facelifts. It requires less anesthetic, downtime, and minimal scarring. This type of facelift is ideal for individuals with mild skin laxity in the central part of the face. A mini or micro facelift isn’t suitable for individuals looking to address advanced signs of aging.

Each type of facelift has its unique purpose. To select the one that best suits your aesthetic goals consult a medical professional with extensive experience in facelifts.
